How it began

Perhaps you sowed one of the seeds that has grown into WebCoast! The whole idea was born out of similar events in recent years – participator-powered conferences, workshops and seminars focused on the development and use of communication over the Internet. Events you yourself may have participated in.

For some reason, there have never been very many participants from the Gothenburg area, though it is Sweden’s second largest metropolitan area. Still, people we know here have always been curious when we described our experiences
- of how private and professional networks evolve
- of how much fun and how rewarding it is to share knowledge and feel yourself getting smarter together!
This is something we felt that more people on the West Coast should have the opportunity to experience.

So we decided to create WebCoast – a meeting here in Gothenburg! We worked hard to get everything in place for the weekend of March 18-20, 2011 at Lindholmen Science Park. Technology, food, accommodation and everything else that necessary to create a physical meeting place for those of us who every day use and develop the social web.
